What is the Dual Enrollment Program (DE)?

The Dual Enrollment Program is an exciting opportunity for college-ready junior and seniors to explore college course options while finishing their high school degree. Currently, students have the fortune of either choosing classes at McNeese State University or SOWELA Technical College. These courses are also provided at NO COST to the students. 

Vinton High School Requirements:

  • Met with Mrs. Andrepont about the Dual Enrollment Program.
  • Completed all the necessary prerequisite courses. 
  • Met all of the requirements of the Dual Enrollment Program the student would like to be accepted to including the ACT scores.
  • Completed the "Course Enrollment Request Form" paperwork and returned it to Mrs. Carrier
  • Submitted all of the ACT and/or ACCUPLACER scores to Vinton High School.

ACT and ACCUPLACER scores:

  • All ACT scores must be recieved by Vinton High School no later than Friday, June 25, 2022 
    • June 11, 2022- Last ACT scores accepted
  • All ACCUPLACER scores must be recieved by Vinton High School no later than Wednesday, June 30, 2022
    • ACCUPLACER scores are not sent directly to the school. Students are responsible for emailing the scores off to Mrs. Andrepont (allison.andrepont@cpsb.org).

McNeese Dual Enrollment Requirements:

  • Miniumum overall GPA of a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade at a Louisiana high school or in a state-approved home school program.
  • On track to complete TOPS/University Core Curriculum.
  • In good standing with your high school or home-school program.
  • Permission to participate from the high school and your parent or guardian
  • Taken the ACT and met the minimum score in ALL THREE: composite, English, and Math
    • Composite: 19
      • There is no alternative score to the composite. If you do not have a 19, you will not be accepted. 
    • English: 18
      • Students who do not have an 18 in English can take the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Writing test but must score at least a 250. 
    • Math: 19
      • Students who do not have an 19 in Math can take the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics test but must score at least a 263.

SOWELA Dual Enrollment Requirements:

  • Miniumum overall GPA of a 2.55 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade at a Louisiana high school or in a state-approved home school program.
  • On track to complete TOPS/University Core Curriculum.
  • In good standing with your high school or home-school program.
  • Permission to participate from the high school and your parent or guardian
  • Taken the ACT and met ALL of the requirements for one of the following options:
    • Option 1
      • ACT English 17
      • ACT Math 17
    • Option 2
      • ACT English 18 or above and ACT Math 16
      • ACT Composite 19
      • "C" or better in most recent Math class
    • Option 3
      • ACT Math 19 or above and ACT English 16
      • ACT Composite 19
      • "C" or better in most recent Math class
